Bach Flower Cherry Plum contains an aqueous extract of Prunus cerasifera. In common parlance, it is called cherry plum, myrobolan plum, or even simply "myrobolan". Native to Southwest Asia and Southeast Europe, it occurs as a shrub that can reach between five and ten meters in height when mature. Its flowers with five petals with golden stamens, its leaves, oval and serrated, come to cover at the same time its bare twigs in late winter or early spring.
The bright white clusters of flowers usually provide a stark contrast to the very dark branches of the myrobolan plum: they seem to literally light up the darkness. Towards the end of summer, the shrub then loads up with red fruits, quite similar to cherries. Edible, they are often used to prepare jams.
Hardy, Prunus cerasifera tolerates temperatures well below 0 ° C. It can be grown in almost all soil types (including limestone soils), as long as it enjoys a good sunny location. In France, it is often used as a "rootstock" for other types of plum such as the Damascus plum for example.
