Cerato is a Plumbago of the Plumbaginaceae family also known as Ceratostigma willmottianum. This shrub with poorly structured growth is appreciated for its abundant flowering. Each flower lasts a short time, but gives way to new ones of a pretty blue of varying tones. In the wild, it does not compete with any other plant because it does not produce seeds. But in our gardens, with its spreading habit and its rich flowering, the Plumbago, despite its delicate appearance, knows how to impose itself by its beauty and its rusticity on a trellis, a low wall or in an embankment. Excellent ground cover, it can reach 1.50 m wingspan. Undemanding, it is satisfied with ordinary well-drained soil and appreciates a fairly severe spring pruning to regain its beautiful vigor.
In purely botanical terms, Plumbago has bright green deciduous foliage with downy, oval leaves with a narrow tip. In autumn, the foliage turns reddish bronze before falling. From June to November, Plumbago is covered with star-shaped flowers grouped in elegant bouquets carried by purple-toned stems.
