Divine Essence - Fennel – Sweet

Fennel – Sweet was revered by the Druids as a sacred herb. Since time immemorial, sweet fennel has been used as a medicinal herb in Asia, Egypt and Greece. Do not confuse Sweet Fennel (F. vulgare var.dulce) with Wild Bitter Fennel (F.vulgare var.vulgare) as the sweet is the one most used. Originally grown in the Mediterranean, fennel can reach between 1.5 to 2 meters in height. It has an anise-like taste when used in cooking. The essential oil is derived from its seeds. Fennel – Sweet is best known as a digestive aid.

Sweet fennel essential oil is used in aromatherapy for symptomatic relief of digestive disorders as well as joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

Posology

Topical (Adults): Mix 1 to 2 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of vegetable oil; apply to the affected area (joint or stomach) 3 times a day.

Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have epilepsy or asthma, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. May cause allergic reaction (e.g. skin rashes, irritation or dermatitis) in which case, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. If nausea, dizziness, headache or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use. Do not use on inflamed skin or if suffering from dermatitis. Avoid exposing treated area to sunlight. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or persist.
